Update

well here is the way things are looking right now

got my 331 (which I have decided to stick with as opposed to 347) from DSS nearly paid for... going to ask sales next time I talk to them about pro-x piston upgrade as they are 60 grams lighter per piston, nice!

so this gets me a stock professionally refressed block with
331 DSS nodular iron crank (stock style, not offset ground)
331 DSS forged I-beam style rods
And hopefully the DSS pro-x pistons which are forged and 160 grams lighter than stock a piece.

things I've thrown on the list
Aluminum Findanza 28ounce Flywheel
Ford racing 28ounce aluminum/steel balancer

heads - AFR 185's 7/16" studs
cam - probably call ed curtis after all this above is paid for
i'll be reusing my edely RPM
upgrading to probably 30lb'ers and I suppose the supporting Pro-M (sorry C&L of huntsville)

i'll be reusing my push rods as they're new
going with a new set of lifters probably ford oem
haven't heard the news yet, but people claim head studs are not good for N/A... which i've been using for some time.
still using my 65MM throttle as well.

good thing I just installed a new T-5 (which I doubt will last long now)
I've currently got 3.73's and an aluminum driveshaft... so the whole drive train should be light now.

and all this of coarse is going in my 93 coupe. im hoping for 325-375rwhp

you guys got anything you wanna add or suggest?

Re: Update

Just from browsing on other forums Ive heard DSS blocks arent really the greatest things out there, of course I dont really know why that is but its what I've seen from hearsay. Sounds like its going to be a sweet build though, Im looking forward to what you do end up putting down... and Im going to guess its gonna be a bit more than 325rwhp easily. My setup on a 302 put down 278 untunted, so Id be looking more at the 375-385 range on yours.

The reason they proclaim they're not the best blocks is ... they're still stock blocks, and a stock block is a stock block, even reworked, however DSS DOES a nice job of prepping them, and they do modify a few things that the stock block has issues with from the start, + they are beautifully machined. But you won't really have problems til you start exceeding power levels a prepped stock block could handle.. (somewhere around 450 HP they start splitting down the valley, no?)

Re: Update

Re: Update

I put down 487 rwhp on a stock 302 short block that has been blueprinted. If you beat on it every second that you are in the car it won't last period. If you take care of it as I do my stuff it will last.

Re: Update

well I got a new digi cam for christmas, its a nikon, and I got bored..
so I decided to try out my camera on some of the build parts I have laying around the appartment, can't take pictures of the good stuff yet, its at the parents garage.

let me know what you think of the pics, they're all low-res (im trying out the PC option on the nikon)

the rest of the story more of less is just so you folks can see these peices second hand just so you can have a gander at wether or not you like the quality, and if you wanna use them in the future.

Fidanza zero balance aluminum flywheel (with interechangeable weights)

The backside

an excellent place to find a complete stainless engine bolt kit for fuel injected 302's

R-302 lifters, ARP oil pump shaft

lifters again with ARP head studs

Man, I'm really glad you posted that. I was wondering where I was going to be able to find polished stainless hardware for the coupe.

Well, I was actually gonna go with the polished Allan bolts. So it'll be a little more than that.

I may also send some of my parts out to let them polish them if the bolts look good. It would take me forever to get the alternator, A/C compressor and intake polished...
