chip in the gears

As some of you know i bought some gears awhile back.. When i got them in and when to get them installed they had a small chip in the pininon gear... Its not very big. I was wondering if it would hurt to put them in anyway or should i order some more??

Re: chip in the gears

its all depends but ... most used gears have chips and I know when I installed a used set of gears in my old car there were a couple small chips and I never had any issues out of them.

I personally wouldnt run used gears, and if those are new you should be able to return them for another set. If the installer is VERY good and tells you it shouldnt matter then it probably wont.

Re: chip in the gears

i bought them brand new from mustangtunning now amercianmuscle but it was about 3 weeks before i had enough money to get them installed..so when i found that out the site says you have 15 days to claim a damage and by then it was to late and i couldnt return them because by the time i got that email back it was past the 30 day mark....so i think im gonna order some more and switch them out and send back the chiped ones and come out a couple dollars in the hole for shipping....sound good to you guys?

Re: chip in the gears

that should work lol, but unless the chip is really bad it probably wont hurt a thing since they are new. got images?

Re: chip in the gears

I've abused the heck outta my gears before.. and on upgrading I didn't see ANY chips or any sign of poor wear/etc

I wouldn't trust 'em personally
