need help

whats up fellow foxers.. and others i need help.. ok so i have 18x10s in the rear of the notch, and i was wondering if i could drop it with out the rub.. at this point there is no rub unless i hit a hump at high speed.. but if i were to lower it, would i be okay? isnt it going to butterfly? i mean i dont want to insanely drop her, just a 1.2 and or 1.5in drop would be ok.. has anyone ever done this? and also.. which kits would be the best for the job? i mean stangmods has this kit for 87-93 foxs with spring shocks and struts.. HELP AHHHH

Re: need help

im going to change my hubs to the sn95 hubs.. are those the right spindles that i need? or are they the ones that are "too long"? also if i change my spindles would that mean i have to get specific sn95 ie: 94-98 shocks ? or would i be ok with 87-93 shocks?

You need 94-95 spindles. You still need to keep 87-93 shocks/struts though.

Just remember that you need to press 94-95 ball joints into your A-arms.

Not much, just work, work and more work.

Just get new ball joints. They're cheap and they would probably need to be replaced anyway.

As far as the kits, I'm not sure what kits you're talking about. You have a link?

Re: need help

+1 on the 94-95 spindlles.. you'll definately have some rubbing. I have 96 spindles, and have no problems, but im also running 17x8's up front.

You do NOT have to have new balljoints either... Im still running my stock ones, which drive fine by the way. I used a spacer to make them work with the sn95 spindles.

here, check this out, and there are several other links...

The Ultimate Four Eyed Fox 5-Lug Conversion Thread - Four Eyed Forums

Mustang Central.net Fox Body Mustang 5-Lug Conversion

oh, and to anyone who might throw the safety card up of my spaced balljoints, You need not worry. There are countless people who have done the same, with no ill effects, and run open track, autocross, and drive cross country in their cars.

Re: need help

Yes, you can do the spacers. But the balljoints usually need to be replaced anyway... so why not do it?

Re: need help

well, the reason i didnt, is because mine were still good... some may not be able to afford the balljoints and having them replaced, so i just gave him another option - i was by no means trying to undermine the advice given, but just showing him that there are other means to reach the same end.

did that make sense?

Re: need help

Sure. But I still think it's a good time to go ahead and replace them while you have everything torn apart.

Too bad there's a lot of people there who do indeed know what they are talking about.

Re: need help

Yeah, but the bad outweighs the good on that site. I've tried twice in 3 years to get in over there and have watched several people get struck down for not knowing "simple" things.
