Combo Help:351

Im building a 1974 351w. I put Ross 12:5 to 1 pistons, Eagle rods, stock machined crank and DSS main girdle. I need help deciding from the short block up. I want to make 550-600 N/A HP. Are the AFR 225 heads with Super Victor intack too much? Reed Cams is local and they recommended a cam for this set up with 264 duration @ .50 with a .601 lift and lobe seperation of 108.Any help is appreciated.

With the 12.5 compression, even with the 205's 550ish hp is more than well within reach. I'd recommend going ahead with the 225's though to have room to improve. You never know when you are ganna want to spray an N/A motor. I'm guessing you are going to carb it? What carb choices do you have lined up?

Intro?

I'm gonna disagree and say stick with the 205s. 225s are big enough for a 427 stroker. I seriously doubt you'd make any more power with them, and would probably lose some air velocity, i.e. low end and mid range torque.

550-600 hp at the fly will be doable, but to make that much at the wheels is going to be pretty tough without a little more displacement.

That sounds like its going to be awesome. What do you think it's going to run in the quartermile? I know there are alot of variables.

Re: Combo Help:351

Why don't you think about some seriously ported TFS-R heads? I personally think that's the best value head combination for a big power N/A car out there, and they will kick the hell out of the AFR 225's for a couple of hundred bucks more. Consider Total Engine Airflow. I got some wild Victors from them for a big N/A setup and found them great to deal with, and the parts were as advertised.
