Grinding/Bearing noise from 88 GT
My aunt has an 88 GT 5.0 auto; it has had a rather...rough life...and I'm doing what I can to help her and keep it on the road.
I drove it yesterday; and there is what I'd figure a bearing noise from the right rear, i've read that it can be part of the rear diff, or possibly the bearings, or I even read it could be something to do with shims?
What I know:
1. Grinds from the right side
2. Grinds when going straight, and when turns (at speeds below 25 mph)
3. When I put in Neutral while rolling, the grinding stops
4. When driving double footed brake, it doesn't clear up (the re-seat the pads by braking theory).
Again, this Mustang hasn't had the easiest life, it gets alot of freeway miles and lots of abuse; I replaced the headlights, am going to replace the ragtop, and other tickytacky things I think need to be done to maintain roadworthiness.
Before I go all 'bearing' on this car, is that usually the problem?
ANy help would be GREATLY appreciated.
