Cobra Intake Problem

I just installed a new upper and lower Cobra Intake. There is a very loud whistle noise when the car is running. When I increase the idle the sound goes away. I am assuming this is a vaccume leak. I checked all of the vaccum lines and they seem to be fine. Does anyone have any suggestions and is there a trick to finding this leak if that is what it is?

Re: Cobra Intake Problem

The only trick I know of is spraying starting fluid around the gasket surface if the car changes idle or revs up or stalls you know it has a leak. Other than that you can use a mechanics stethoscope to here where the sound is coming from.

Re: Cobra Intake Problem

sometimes you will have a whistle noise that is normal depending on whether or not you replaced the throttle body or cold air intake with an aftermarket version.

I couldn't say which brands but I have heard alot of complaints some TB's making a loud noise

My cold air intake at times "moans" going down the road.
My wife's focus cold air makes alot of drive noise that sometimes "whistles"

Re: Cobra Intake Problem

I haven't heard of the "TB whistling problem" before, but that may be it. I have a '96 Plymouth Voyager that has a whistling sound at highway cruising speeds. I wonder if it would be really loud if I removed the air silencer box on the intake?
