Water Pump: Possibly increase power?

Hello,

I'm currently replacing the water pump on my 1994 Mustang GT and I'm wondering if it's possible that a new water pump can increase HP? And if it can, which water pump would you recommend?

Thanks!

The only one that may free up some HP is an electric one. And If it does, it can't be much.

If you want to gain a little bit more power you can get a smog pump delete

Re: Water Pump: Possibly increase power?

Alright, so getting just a normal water pump would be fine? not one of these super expensive ones that claim to have better quality?

Re: Water Pump: Possibly increase power?

Making a conversion to an Electric Water Pump can net small gains (5-10hp some claims) as it reduces the parasitic drag on the engine.

Although, Brent is right, Just replace it with the OEM Water Pump as it is of great quality and the power gains are insignificant.

Re: Water Pump: Possibly increase power?

if the stock unit was sucking really bad and the car ran out of optimal range it might help but it would only be due to the issues with the oem setup.
