what should i do first?

I got a 89 coupe and I was wondering what you guys think I should do first? I'm 16, in high school, about to get a job and get insurance on this car, if I don't sell or trade it. I have no money right now. So I'll be building or saving up so what should I do first? If I get it painted, I'm buying a regular trunk and I want the door jams and the engine bay to be painted also, but not really wanting to pull the motor right now to have it done, or I'll buy all the weatherstripping for it because most of mine is messed up anyway, or just get some rims for it, like ponies or possibly do a 5 lug conversion and get some rims for it. It needs a new trunk, paintjob, speedo gear, weatherstripping, and rims. So what should I do first.

Re: what should i do first?

for me it would be wheels/tires and the stance (if needed by lowering etc so it sits right)

Thanks. Well, supposedly it has 1.5" lowering springs and a 4 shock setup. I think it'll sit better with some nittos or kuhmos and a set of rims. What rims would look good on it, in yourvopinion from the pics.

The paint doesn't look that bad at all from the pictures, i would hold off on that. You can always switch the wheels back to the stock ones if you decide to get rid of it soon.

Thanks and yea. A few chips on the doors, somebody tried to take small granuals of something and rubbed it on the paint so there's swirls and circled scratches. Might not get rid of it.

Yeah, I'm 16 as well. No job and the search has been going for about 4 months now. Might be selling my ride soon to get a hatch 5.0 though

If it leaks, then replace necessary weatherstripping. Paint doesn't look all that bad, but then it could be the pics. Still, I'd do that last. I'd do the gear, replace the headlights (look cloudy), and save up for some rims. Keep an eye on Craigs list or even some local boneyards. I put cragars on an old lemans when I was your age - got more complements on the car. Go figure, rims can make a car.

Thanks and yes, rims do make a car. I think that's why I don't like the way this one looks now.

I personally would go to an auto parts store rent a timing light adv the ign timing about 4 or 6 degrees, but then higher octane gas! the only thing it will cost you is the extra 20 cents per gallon and thatd be way cheaper and it will give you power! Or adv the cam 4 or 6 degrees thatd cost 100 or less!
