When i step on the gas, I go out of control!

Alright, I have a 1994 Mustang GT.

As i'm going down the road i want to speed up so i step on the gas a little harder and i'm pretty sure it goes from 4th gear to 3ed, but anyways my tires began to start spinning uncontrollably, and this is scary when i'm going 50 down a pretty urbanized road.

This has actually happened to me a few times and i'm, just wondering if this is normal or if my tranny is shifting down to quickly or anything?

Any feedback will be appreciated....

P.S.
I may need new tires so which i am suspecting has to do with it as well... But their not so bad that they have to spin uncontrollably on a moderately dry road...

Thanks,
Brandon

Yeaa the engine is stock with 153,XXX Miles on it. We recently did get the rear axle replaced if that makes any difference... But the tranny is also rebuilt, and i don't know how many miles are on that because the previous owner did not tell me.

Re: When i step on the gas, I go out of control!

i would say that the line pressure in your tranny is too high, but have have an aod(e) which is electric. the computer handles the shift points and line pressures. perhaps the previous owner loaded a tune in the car for the trans.

Alright thanks for your input! Would i have to go to some mechanic and ask them to switch it for me or something? Is it something i could do myself? I know the previous owner messed with the computer a little because there is an air bag cancel code on there as well, which is fine but i dont like the hard shifting...

Check and make sure they plugged in the line pressure sensor on the tranny, it's right above the neutral safety switch and shift linkage. If this is unplugged it will shift reeeeallly hard. Mine was unplugged with a 3.8Lv6 and would spin the tires every time it shifted from 1st to 2nd and to drive but would only shift real firm into overdrive.

94 GT's require a chip not a tune, so it cant be tuned! It might have a chip but i dont think that would have anything to do with the tranns shifting. My 94 GT with brand new (less than 2k on tires) is all stock so far also breaks the tires loose!

Of course a chip has to do with an auto shifting. Tunes shift points, etc. And they require a chip to hold a tune. You cant just reflash the ecm like an obd-ii. Are you sure you graduated from uti 94 mustang?

What type of tires do you have, if they are cheap hard *** rubber tires it will spin all the time.

Could possibly be the piston return springs wore out or muffler bearings need to be repacked.
