Installed A Steeda Tri-Ax Shifter!!

Heard it was a good piece, opinions are welcome. Seems like the gears are a lot smoother and a tad shorter. Anyway, just thought I would share!

I find the steeda shifter feels a bit light for my taste. The pro 5.0 shifter is a little heavier and seems to make those 2nd to 3rd 6500 rpm speed shifts happen like magic.

Nice. I've heard good things about the Pro 5.0 unit as well. Probably not going to be doing any racing in it, just for driving on nice days and going to shows. Might hit the track once this summer just to see how she does!

they are good shifters, I liked mine in my 01 mustang, but there is just no substitute to the MGW. I will say that the pro 5.0 has a good bit of love as well its a nice shifter also.

Nice, thanks for the replies. I never had an aftermarket shifter in either of my other Stangs, and this one, even just sitting in the garage moving the gears feels really good. I can't wait to drive this thing as soon as nice weather hits. Since I've had it I've only driven it about 10 miles! I'm feinden to drive her!!

I never looked at the mgw before until a couple minutes ago and I must say that I like the part about having the strongest centering springs. That's what I liked the most about my pro 5.0. I'd be in 2nd with just the palm of my hand on the back of the knob and all I would have to do is jam that B$&"! Forward.

Re: Installed A Steeda Tri-Ax Shifter!!

I am about ready to put a new shifter in my 99 GT. I am taking all this in, Looking and looking finding all kinds, UPR has one that I thought is good but it was never mentioned so I may go and look at MGW....

I got the tri-ax and I love it but my car came with a factory hurst shifter and to me they are about the same other than the triax has stiffer springs but that could be because the hurst is from 84 haha

Re: Installed A Steeda Tri-Ax Shifter!!

i have a tri-ax in one car, pro 5.0 in the other . both work well, that 2-3 shift is like butter on both. plus both shifters protect trans from being over-shifted, as opposed to the stock shifter.
