When I talked to some different people wjhohave used the trick flow setup. 190 Heads, trach heat intake and trick flow cams. I have heard as little as 75hp and 125 hp.

Re: Trick Flow engine upgrade kits

That is dropping alot of money into your stang. 1900 for the heads, 900 for the track heat intake, 900 for the cams, they recommend their fuel rails, injectors, new throttle body, new mounts for the alternator. then I haven't got install prices compared to me doing it. It is a great investment then you can add the juice to it.

You can probably get it a few hundred dollars cheaper through LRS

Re: Trick Flow engine upgrade kits

I don't think its a bad kit, if I remember right it doesn't come with roller rockers, so I'd ditch the factory and go with 3/8" studs and get the correct length pushrods on custom order... thats probably why so many people report a large variance in power gains.

if you just put the vortech on...they still have to watch out. im not sayng dont do the h/c/i kit. but must ppl are happier with the blower first, most bang for your buck if you got a choice between the two. if your plan'n on runing boost, build around the blower, not the other way around.

you will be happier in the long run, you will prolly choose a different head with lower compression ratio, and definatley a different cam if you are gonna run a blower. versus a n/a set-up.

a boost specific h/c/i combo will net you more hp in the long run if boost is your plan..

Re: Trick Flow engine upgrade kits

it all depends on how much boost you throw at it. 45-65 @5-6psi..possibly 75-100hp @9-10psi. that's what the blower companies say. but there are alot of variables even with a most stock motor. such as the mass air meter (huge factor), are you using an fuel managment unit or correct size injectors for boost level.

its best to decide on a hp range you wanna be at, how streetable you want the car to be, and then start building around that hp level.

when i started my goal was 400hp...now it's 500. however, there are trade -offs for the power, fuel milage, type of fuel you can use, 450-500 at the wheels sounds great on paper, till you try to drive it daily...everyone is different. my car is an adventure to drive on wet pavement...i try to watch the weather now..lol.

Re: Trick Flow engine upgrade kits

well im doing 456 at the wheels with standard stroke and ported heads @11psi. are u on an i-phone? if not you should be able to see my signature with my set-up. i have a fairly budget set-up. im gonna move up to about 14psi, possibly get a tune, then call it a day. i think im ay get 475-490 when it's all done and said.

you got a very attainable goal, without alot of effort on your part.

Re: Trick Flow engine upgrade kits

honestly, i think you could get that with a good blower cam, mass air, intake...and a tune. and matching injectors...fmu's are for beginers...
