newbie here - auto tranny questions

Ok, so I just bought a '93 5.0 LX special edition convertible with the 4-speed auto. I have owned an '89 with the 5-speed and it felt so much more powerful. I don't think it has anything to do with just being a tired motor because my current mustang has definitely been taken care of better than the '89 (aka POS).

Now for the questions...
It has been towed behind an RV for most of its life. Due to this, it has a cable that disengages the tranny while being towed. Do y'all think this could be a reason for it feeling so sluggish? It does feel like it "slips" sometimes. When I say it feels sluggish, I mean it won't even spin the tires. Being a 5.0, even though it's an auto, I would think it should have much more kick than that.

Also, being a limited edition, do you think it will hurt the value if I were to swap a 5-speed in place of the auto? I have mixed feelings about this; it is an original automatic car, but seems like most people looking for Mustangs would like it better with the 5-speed, making it more valuable. It's just so boring to drive in comparison with my old 5-speed.

Thanks for any input!

Swap in the 5 speed! That's my vote! Now, if it was something really rare, it would bring down value, but I would never buy an auto car. The only reason my girl's "02 GT is auto is because she can't drive for *****!

Plus 1.... You will enjoy it more and isn't that ultimately the goal... Value on the street and value to you are different. Why own a car you dont enjoy driving

Yeah that's what I'd really like to do I just don't wanna hurt the value too much. How involved is a swap? From what I've researched, it doesn't require an ecu swap right? Sorry if this is an over-asked question lol

Nope, no ECU swap required.

Well originally I wanted to turn over some profit, but now that I've driven it for a little while, I'm thinkin I'll keep it.

That's like my car, I've had offers of over $10,000 on it. It's worth more than that to me. I don't really care how much mine is worth to someone else, it's what it's worth to me that counts!
