Is this right

This picture is of my input shaft on my T-5. between my transmission and the neck that houses the seal there is what looks like a grey permatex. Does anyone know if this is supposed to be here or not? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Yes you need a gasket or some sort of gasket maker like permatex to make sure it doesn't leak.

Thanks was just making sure cause of the small tolerances on a transmission
