With any luck...

I'll have me an 86 GT with T-Tops tomorrow Been looking for a T-Top car forever, and this one is in good shape. Needs a tranny and a little touch here and there. Originally a 5spd car, will get an auto (probably makes some of you cringe). Will post some pics tomorrow if I bring it home. Can't wait.

Re: With any luck...

Got the car home. Body is in good shape overall. Minor rust at bottom of doors, and needs a new hatch. Everything else is solid and rust free! Appears that the T-tops have never leaked, no rust in the tracks though it does need the felt/oring seal replaced. 10 hole rims with new tires. Engine appears clean and is free, valve covers leaking. Need injectors, distributor, and the bolt on accessories (P/S pump, Alt and brackets). Engine plate/ flywheel and torque converter there and in good shape. Need AOD trans and starter. All wiring original and intact. Shorty headers, off road H-pipe, trans cross member, drive shaft, radiator, fan, shroud all included and in good shape. Overall I'm happy with the car. $900 including the guy trailering it home for me (1.5 hour drive). Will get some better pics tomorrow when its not raining and my camera isn't going dead.

I want a Capri so bad. Hard to find though. The Capri had different fenders also.

Definitely wont be going with the Aero nose that's why I got the 86. Not a fan of the Capri noses but would love to have the "bubble" fenders and quarters

why would anyone cringe just of the fact of an auto tranny? I know of many
hotrods runnin' an auto.Just gotta know ur stuff on how each componant benefits eachother. For example there are stall torque converters built at a
variety of engagement parameters to compliment the purpose,Shift kits with
all the internals to give you better firmer shifts and valvebodies that shifts
the gears at the pro rated time for efficiency. Not to mention having the correct ring and pinion ratio too in the pumpkin.etc Bro,you'd be surprised! Most run
manual standard shift tranny's because it's much more fun to drive having a racer feel to it. You turn ur t-top into a sleeper hot rod with a beefed up auto.Blow people's minds! That's fun too!

Because until now, the Mustang has been giving a POS automatic transmission in almost every model. The current models seem to be getting better... but really an AOD or AODE was ****. Not 'The ****'... ****!

You don't have to convince me I've just heard it all about manuals being better, blah blah blah. I've always enjoyed an auto better. If its set up right, its just a game of mash the gas till you cross the line. Plus I daily drive all my cars and get tired of shifting. Have never messed with an AOD but it will get a shift kit for now and when I redo something I will figure out what to get for a converter and what not.
