the pump is running but do you have fuel press. if you have fuel next check to see if you have spark. find with one you don't have than we can help a lot more

Re: Car Won't Start

well you can use a screw driver to push the fitting in on the fuel rail to see if fuel comes out ( its just like the air fitting on your tire) if fuel comes out than get a fuel pres gauge to check press needs to be at least 40psi. if no fuel comes out than start by checking the fuel filter for a clog. if none found than you need a fuel pump

I really doubt you damaged the motor, the timing belt isn't hard to replace at all on the 2.3s and shouldn't cost too much

Re: Car Won't Start

I think if I were strapped for cash I'd put the belt on and then check my dynamic compression, if they all look good and high then run it as is.

if longevity is more of a concern i'd pull the head and take it too a good machinist.

Re: Car Won't Start

According to "AUTODATA" The 2.3 ford engine is a "freewheeling" engine so you shouldn't have to worry about valve damage. Hope this helps.
