Anyone have experience/info with a 89 Lincoln MarkVII?

While looking for parts and what not for my stang, I was offered a complete engine and trans out of an 89 Lincoln (5.0/AOD). Anyone know if that runs off the same computer system as my 86? Trying to decide if it would be better to just drop the combo in the stang if my wiring would work, or if I should just grab what I need and throw it on my engine. Any info would be appreciated.

Re: Anyone have experience/info with a 89 Lincoln MarkVII?

technicaly everything will swap between the two.

the main difference is your 86 is a speed density system and the 89 lincoln is a mass air syatem.

all your wiring will work if you leave your stang speed density....

if you ever plan on installing a cam, you may wanna use the lincoln computer (im pretty sure itsa a9l e.c.u.)

as well as wire your 86 for mass air. the 86 has blank pins in the harness if you wanna add to the existing harness (it's only four wires)(signal in/signal out/hot/ground). or, you can just rewire the whole engine bay by swapping in the lincoln harness.

but again, if you are gonna just leave it stock...you can just swap your engine and trans..it will go in and plug right up.

Awesome thank you for the info. I do plan on wiring it for mass air. However I'm not getting the wiring or computer with the engine and trans so thats a no go. I'll just find a computer and do it that way. Again, thanx for the info

well you can install it as is. then when u get a couple buks. get the mass air ecu, a mass air sensor from the junkyard. i spent a total of 65.00 converting my 87 speed density harness to mass air.

good luck to you.
