408 injector size srars and MAF

I need injectors for my 408. Do the need go be matched to the MAF? I'm using the stock 1992 mustang ECU, which injectors do I use. I want about 42#. But what about the impedance on the injectors?

I'm pretty sure the MAF will need to be matched for the injectors. Not sure of the size. Free bump as I'm sure someone with the proper knowledge will chime in. It's been a while since I've messed with these cars. I'm actually diving back in now with my Cobra Build

high impedance is for n/a and supercharged cars. low impedance is typicaly for imports and turbo cars... the impedance is lower because the duty cycle is faster for smaller motors and turbo cars... it keeps the injectors from over heating.

i would use the stock maf before matching to injector size. u wanna make sure u really need 42lbs injectors. are u replicating some else's set-up? how do u know u need 42lbs inj.? what is the stock size injector for that motor?

Re: 408 injector size srars and MAF

408 all forged out buit by Ford Performance soultions in CA, Victor Jr 205s, stage three porting, Edelbrock rpm intake, blower cam, main girdle.. I bought this engine from a guy who never got to use it. It was built for boost. I am using it to replace the stock 302 in my 92. I am using all the oem accessories. I have all the oem MAF, injectors, ecu... I am looking to use the stock ECU for now. I want to boost it in the future as well. I just thought 42 was nothing too big or small, plus I want to be ablew to add the boost later with out changing too much. I know I will need a aftermarket engine management later for that. I don't know about the MAF and injectors. I heard that the MAF will give you problems if it's not matched with the injectors. I do not know the stock size injectors, or what it would have. It's my first engine\ Mustang build.

Are you seriously running that with stock injectors right now? If so, that's insane. 42 lb injectors are probably about right with your setup. I, for instance, am running 30 lb injectors on my setup which is a fairly mild 302 with HCI making around 300 rwhp. I was recommended to use a larger injector, compensated by lower fuel pressure and the proper tune by a very reputable builder. My understanding is that you want the largest injector possible that can deliver the lower amount of fuel you need without affecting the spray pattern.

As for the MAF, yes it will need to be matched, unless perhaps you are using an engine management system, such as the FAST. I don't claim to know much about that arena though. I've always just used a MAF matched to the injectors.

Also, the stock injector size is 19 lb/hr. Nowhere near enough for a HCI 408.

Pro-M is what I'm running. Back in the day they were the best. I believe they may have gone out of business. I previously had a C&L and was not happy with it. Had serious issues getting a steady idle. I haven't really kept up to speed in recent years though, so maybe someone else can provide some better input.
