410s and what converter?

Just like the title says, I've got 410s on an 88 with an aod, what's the best tourque converter to run times, and still feel like a stock converter on the street?

Re: 410s and what converter?

i dont know of any stall converter that feels like a stock converter during street driving. the higher the stall... the higher/more, the slip....

I don't have any experience with autos in 5.0's but have a C4 in a ranchero with a 2200 stall speed and love it. Converter is a TCI brand

Re: 410s and what converter?

then i would say do a 2200 in your stang as well. the higher the stall the less stock the tranny will feel.

Yeh I saw b&m has a 1900 stall I figure that will be fine I just don't want to be launching at every light unless I want to

Keep in mind also that having a 1900 or 2200 stall does not mean that you will rev that high before you start moving. It just means it will rev a little higher because it is slipping more. The rating is an approximation of when the converter is fully grabbing, but there are even other variables for that.

it doesnt work that way, u have to be w.o.t. for u to launch it. the trans will just feel like it's slightly slipping at lower rpm (2000-2500) during normal street driving.

Re: 410s and what converter?

Check into ur camshafts operating range (power band) then you'll know what TC stall to go with.
