Vortech supercharger

I just bought an 86 gt that supposedly is stroked to a 347 and I was wondering what kind of power I should be putting down...I'm not sure what size cam is in it but it has performer heads with shorty headers and a catted h-pipe on it and a gt40 upper and lower and 70mm throttle body and I just ordered an 80mm maf with 30 pound injectors and the base Vortech kit with the V3-SCI blower....the kit is supposed to put out 5 to 6 psi with the pulley that is supplied and I was just wondering if anyone has this sort of setup and could tell me what to expect out of it?!?

Re: Vortech supercharger

I know my buddys car has a 347 stroker with blower putting 10 lbs and 42 injectors etc he also has a z cam in it long tube headers, x pipe etc. His car just put down 555 hp to the wheels on a safe tune. I know their are ay other items you or he may have different but you should get a rough idea of what you may be making.

Thanks for the reply, I'm hoping I'll not be to far from those numbers...the only problem I have now is getting to a shop to tune it without messing anything up. The nearest shop is 80 miles away.

Re: Vortech supercharger

Are you running lean or rich at all right now that would be the one thing to watch for until you get it to a shop. Just drive it nice and try not to make boost to much until you get it their and you should be fine I would think. If you get a different pullie you should be closeto them numbers I would think maybe the upper 400 area more than likely.
They may tell you to get larger injectors they seem a little on the smaller size I run 38's with my supercharged 5.0 motor with no storker and have an external t rex pump also.

I would guess 400-425. With a good tune it could be alittle higher

Re: Vortech supercharger

Good point what size fuel pump does it have? I would think go #42 injectors and maybe even a T Rex pump also may be needed but then you have to recal your stuff with these changes.
Let me know if you need a T Rex I may have a brand new one never opened I may sell soon. I ordered two of them by mistake and just have it sitting on my shelf. I will know if I am going to sell it maybe next week I have a friend that may need it also.

30s would work for 7psi but I do think bigger would be safer. Iv seen people run stocks 19s with novi1200s with fuel management units but you won't get as much out of your builds. What size fuel pump u got now?

Re: Vortech supercharger

What stinks is that you have to drop the tank to see what it has in it for a pump now, so if you do buy a 255 dont open it and be sure you can return it if you have one already. I would be shocked if you dont already have at least a 255 in your tank now with all the work and money it sounds like the other owner did.

Yeah that's true...it might be easier to track him down and ask than to drop the tank as it's on jackstands right now with the rear end gutted and a full tank of premium! One more question? How in the hell do I upload profile pics...I use the phone app and it won't let me, I'm guessing I need to get on a computer to do so?
