Drag race question!

With this set up, if I was to drop my clutch at 5500 rpm would I stand a wheelie? What would break, if anything.

Holley heads
Msd ignition al2
Msd blaster
Msd distributor
Trickflow upper intake throttle body
Pullies
3.73 Gears I think not for sure but i do know the are after market
T5 world class trans
Hurst short throw shifter
Tack with shift light
Temp and oil pressure gauge in place of air vents
A/c deleted
X cam
24lb injectors
Or somethin like that
K&n air intake
X pipe flow masters
Bbk long tube headers
New drive shaft not sure what kind.
Tubular k member
Adjustable shocks and struts
Bbk fuel pressure regulator

What tires are on your car? What clutch do you have? I highly doubt your clutch would hold up to that abuse. Most cars that pull wheels are running an automatic with line lock and two step launch.

Spool, auto with trans brake. A strong susp. Two stages of spray and that would be a close start. As far as you dropping the clutch at 5500. U would spin like crazy, I made that mistake my first run

But even with that setup, without fat slicks out back, it will spin too. I was launching my car at three and spinning out of the hole on slick street tires. Also forgot to mention a stutterbox would help too.

Re: Drag race question!

Im really not sure what clutch is in it.. but from the looks of it, it looks like the guy befor me went all out with the mods. So i dont see why he would put a T5 trans in it without upgrading the clutch? the rear end is upgraded and the drive shaft, Dont see why the clutch wouldnt be. Is there a way i can tell without tearing it apart?

Re: Drag race question!

Consider this, the T5 came stock on these cars. I detroyed my third gear just pulling out in traffic one day. They are only rated at 300ftlbs of torque. I noticed in one of your pics that you are running drag radials. Given that, launching at a high RPM will find the weakest link in your drivetrain. If you do plan to run this alot it won't take long.

Yeah. I'll agree when you add alot of traction, you will start breaking the weakest links. And yeah I'm just covering some general basics. But what ever mods you do to your car to make it faster, be sure you have the safety requirements for your time.

Re: Drag race question!

I am planning on going to Somerset KY in Aug for the cruise in. You should check it out. They have a Mustang Alley setup.

Re: Drag race question!

I put mine in them and don't win anything. You would be surprised the interest that your car will get.

Re: Drag race question!

If you hook...

Axles, especially if they are c-clip.
Driveshaft
T5 - world class or not
Clutch

It really doesn't take that much to pull a tire in a car. Put some 90/10's on the front and stiffen up the rear, add a bag to the right rear.
