Opinions on clutches

Sup all. I have a supercharged 89 saleen. I'm putting down 470 rwhp and 425 lbs. Tq. What is a good clutch to put in? My clutch is starting to slip when I powershift. The clutch in there is a ford racing clutch I put in many years ago. Your opinions are appreciated. Thank you

Re: Opinions on clutches

For the torque your putting down I would recommend a SPEC Stage 1. It is rated about 490 LBS.

I was actually told to put a spec stage 2. How about centerforce dual friction?

Re: Opinions on clutches

Centerforce are good too, but I like Spec. It really boils down to your choice.

Re: Opinions on clutches

Had a center force behind my Blown 88gt 636 rwhp in couldn't hold it
went with a Ram Power grip , expensive but worth it - it did the job .....

Re: Opinions on clutches

See if Centerforce has the DYAD clutch for your application.
They will hold 1300 ft lbs.
Or maybe the DFX will do what you need.
I prefer the Centerforce myself, because of the reduced pedal effort and I've used them for the last 10-15 years without any issues.

I've had a Spec Stage 1 for years with zero problems. I'm only putting down around 300 rwhp though.
