Gear question

I was looking at throwing some 4.10s on my coupe, I am aware of higher rpm and and all that good stuff. My question is about 3.90s, are they a oddball or something, I don't know anybody personally that runs them but it would be a better choice for my car, anybody run em?

Re: Gear question

probably that they are so close to 3.73 or 4.10s people just step on up to 4.10s or down to 3.73. If you really want to get technical and you run at the drag strip you need to gear it for the 8th or quarter mile so you dont shift to many times etc and waste time there.

Re: Gear question

and different brands are known to whine more (metal make up) vs OEM ford racing type gears but... motive took over some of ford racing's gears.. which are known to whine lol. I think they have an M on the ring gear vs F

I had 4.10s in my Mach, but I think I'm gonna ditch these 3.55s and go with a 3.90 or back to another 4.10. The thing reAlly is, I have 275/60/15 with a 3.55 gear and it bogs off the line, so I could either pay afew hundred and get taller gears or pay afew hundred and leave gears alone and just get 275/50/15 tires. I know it would feel about to same and cost around the same, 400 bucks either way

In my opinion it's either 3:73 or 4:10 not sure there would be Much difference between the 3:90 and 4:10s. FYI I have 4:10 in my 1990 coupe and I might switch to 3:73 since It rarely sees track time!
