Depending on DEQ in your state, run straight pipe. A nice loud & raspy kinda hiss that turns heads everywhere. Mmmmm straight exhaust & muffler deletes = delicious.

A buddy of mine has them on his 88 with an o/r x-pipe and they are a little louder than my single chamber flows, but they do sound good.

How do you like the 10 series flows compared to the American thunder 40 series?

I like them but they dont have that hollowed muscle car sound at idle that I like. At WOT they sound amazing to me.

Personally, I love the sound of Macs. The chambered sound, and I believe they flow better than flowmaster

Re: mufflers

Just hit up DEQ in my state today & talked with one of the techs. Said that they don't put a sniffer on any car older than 95 & thus I will soon be running an o/r X-Pipe with no mufflers & catless system. I cannot f'ing wait.

If he runs just straight pipes rather than a mid pipe with mufflers, then he will,

After a debate with Texas a few days ago that doesn't necessarily hold true to a point for us pushrod guys.

I dont remember the specifics for the ohc but I did find an article about exhaust sizing that really interested me, though it's not the one I had mentioned.

Re: mufflers

thats a good article but that is proving the previous arguement. and the previous arguement was that getting rid of back pressure will make you lose power. in the article they said the back pressure caused them to lose power. they then had a system built that had minimal backpressure and a good flowing design and they got the power back. so this article proves what i argued in the other thread correct.

Yes I concede to that, but they also ran a 2.5 in mid pipe which was to promote scavenging, and any backpressure after that would hinder it.

correct but the 2.5 inch pipe wasnt creating back pressure. here is a good write up

That is a good write up. Everyone does tend to mistake scavenging for backpressure. I did until I read that carcraft article and that write up should be called " backpressure for dummies" ... Lol

Re: mufflers

so we can agree that single chambered vs duel chambered will have little effect. its the headers and the mid pipe that is going to make the difference?

I already knew that, I had only mentioned the sound difference earlier between the two.

well petey it depends on where you plan on running the 3 inch pipe. and you dont want any pressure. you want to eliminate the pressure

Well when you put it THAT way, I'll just have to censor myself.
