Hey guys , I'm installing my CAM this weekend (Trickflow stage 1) and I ask my brother inlaws buddy if he could swing by and help me out and degree my cam for me, and he told me I dont have to degree that cam just line up the dots on the new timing chain and that's it! Now my question is , is that correct I wanna get a 2nd opinion before I install it ? ....thanks!

Iv always heard that you don't have to degree them, I've never done it but seen it done once. You will get a little bit more out of it

Re: TRS- Stage 1 Cam help?

More cams are installed without degreeing them than with, however to ensure accurate valve timing and extract the most power from the cam you should always degree one when you install it.

Manufacturing tolerances being what they are, you are very unlikely to find a cam that can be installed "straight up" on the marks and still be 100% accurate on timing events.

In that case, borrow the degreeing kit, read the directions and have at it.
