Changing an ignition 1995

My 95 gt ignition broke last night in the on position I can take the key out and it's as if it's still in the on position radio plays brake light and battery light stay on, I can also start my car but can not shut it off how do I change the ignition?

Under the ignition there is a small hole. With a small punch ( I used an Allen wrench) insert it into the hole and pull the ignition out. There is a pin inside that hole that releases the ignition, also I think the key needs to be in a certain position. I'm sure someone will chime in with more details, but it's pretty easy.

YW. I think to pull the outer section out, you need to pull the steering wheel and is a little more involved, but the inner ( the guts ) just slides right out by pushing in the release button. Somewhere in here it tells you how to do it in more detail but I can't remember where.

Ok so here is what u need to do I almost had to do it to mine! lol so I been looking it up the passed week to see how to do it haha but to see that pin he is talkin about, go ahead and go to ur part store and buy an ignition cylinder with keys. Should be about $15 then when u get it u will see the pen he is talkin about but anyways it will come with instructions itself! Easy fix. Hope this helps!

Np like I said when I got my ignition cylinder it had instructions in it! Also don't turn the key befor u put it in. I Hurd it will lock it and u will be screwed haha so just leave key in it and leave it alone. Just install it as directions say. And one more thing look at ur ignition see if it is black or chrome. (the front where u put ur key and turn) they will ask u when u go to the part store. Or should ask u.

The link refers to the Ignition Lock Cylinder ( what your key goes into ) and that is attached to the Ignition Switch inside the column. There is a tab that sticks out the end of the lock cylinder that fits into the ignition switch. I'll post some pics of the two.

K just make sure u tell them that when u get ur new one because the black one and the chrome one look completely differant as far as internal and how big they are. The black one has a piece that extends farther then the chrome one. reason I know is because I had to take the chrome one back for the black one haha

It must be the ignition switch itself. I'm not an expert, that's just my personal opinion.
