Gears are not for the beginner to install. Unless you have a dial micrometer and know how to measure backlash and see how the gears rub together. and a bunch of patience putting in the spacer washers then I would not attempt it. A rear diff is a very sensitive thing one millimeter off and it won't last one run...

I could do it, I just lack the necessary patience, so 200 is a steal for something I don't have to do.

Oh didn't know that! Lol that's my mistake I'll edit my post! Hmm learn somethin knew everyday! I've rebuilt cars since I was 12 but didn't ever put performance parts on mustangs lol just mainly worked on fully restoring an old f100, a ford fairlane galaxy 500 retractable hard top, put an rebuilt a engine in a older chevy step side and replaced an engine in a mitsubishi mirage! next build is a 67 mustang not sure how I'll do it. Mainly we go just original but I might want to go performance with it and widen my knowledge! But sorry again for the not knowin it's not for a beginner!

Yes, which is another reason I'm going to him. It's a whole lot of piece of mind for me with none of the headache of the install. I do have to provide my own gear oil but that's not too bad.

He was launching at 3500 most the night then got a wild hair to try and make his car lift the wheels, I think that is what did his clutch in.

Haha wow that sucks, I'm always afraid of messing sumthing up when I go! My clutch is good for 600hp is what the gentleman said that I got my car from. I just hope he is right and if it has 450 Hp then I shouldn't have any problem droppin the clutch at 3500 should I?

Well the clutch in his car is a stock rated clutch and the magic number that wiped it out for him was 4500

Re: 1/4 mile

from those times I'm assuming your car is ALL stock ?
after you get those gears in ,I expect some 14's buddy , lol
do you have a cold air kit ? anything done ? is your timing bumped ? timing makes a big difference too ....... if its not ,get it set to 14 degrees initial and it'll really wake that 5.0 up!! I like your car , looks good with the black rims

My car is far from stock which is why I was a little surprised at the 15.50's. Thanks I love my wheels, except for the all black one.

Re: 1/4 mile

Im really starting to like the monochromatic blue, however your aftermarket baby blue is a touch too light for my taste. Sucks your rear wheels have that chrome lip/ your front wheels dont have it. I'm guessing you have the auto so let me know how those 3.73's work out, i've got a 5 speed but im seriously considering 3.73's.

Nope t-5, I didn't take off from a high rpm because my tires had no grip.

After rebuilding my t-5 myself, I think I'm going to attempt installing my 4:11s here soon. It scared me to do the tranny at first ( LOTS OF PARTS ) but after many times at the track and five years later it still works great!

One of the previous owners did, it originally had 3.08 gears.

Thanks, the mpg is so so. I do a lot of city driving so the 3.73 will probably do me better anyway.

but i see your in LA ,The air down there sucks ..... could be part of the problem ..... what kinda 60ft ? you should at least be able to get a 2.0 60 ft / if not you really need to practice your launch tech .... good luck

Well I couldn't leave the line at anything over 1300 rpm's, even the cars with drag radials had a hard time with grip.
