Re: 94 mustang gt is running hot!!!

Check your timing amd make sure it isn't retarded.
You may have a blown head gasket.
Your cooling system may be plugged up and needs to be flushed out.
Check your radiator cooling fins and make sure they are not plugged from bugs or other road debris.

my GUESS would be a compression test, a blown head gasket I THINK will lose some compression.

The quick test is to look at your coolant to see if there is oil in there...and your oil to see if it looks like it has water in it (it will be a lighter color, pushing brownish depending on the amount of water present).

That won't guarantee you don't have a blown gasket, but if you find oil or water where they aren't supposed to be, it will about guarantee you have a blown gasket.

Re: 94 mustang gt is running hot!!!

also make sure your cooling fan is kicking on. If the car is hot and it's not, then it could be the fan switch, the fan relay, or the fan itself. Try turning on the A/C because that is normally wired to turn on the fan. If that doesn't work it's either the relay or the fan.

Re: 94 mustang gt is running hot!!!

Don't guess. Problem solve. Did your fan ever come on when it was over heating? Was it boiling over, or are you just getting numbers off of the gauge? What EXACTLY have you done to it to figure out the problem.

Water in the oil. Oil on the coolant. Antifreeze smell out of the exhaust would all indicate a blown head gasket. What didyou see when you flushed it? So the fan comes on. That's good. Another thing to check is coolant flow. Make sure the water pump is flowing (had one go bad the impeller broke) and that thermostat is opening.

Well I've been tinkering all nite and finally I've found a solution to my over heating until I can put it in the shop... I unplugged the temp sensor and the cooling fan came on... I'm changing the sensor when I wake up... will this cause any problems by leaving it unhooked???

How is water pump, u should have a tail tale hole on wp that will leak water to let u know if it goes out, also when head gaskets go out, most of the time u can pop the radiator cAp and see parts of the head gasket floating in your water, when u do get it fixed, u can throw in a bottle of water wetter. It cooled mine in between 5-10 degrees at normal operating tempature
