Convertible Quarter-Window Help?

Hey guys,

On my Mustang GT Convertible the back Quarter-Window has a hole were the weather strip was, and there is weather stripping in the car obviously haha! But I attached a picture and this is the biggest one! The passenger side hole is in the same place but smaller then this one on the drivers side! What do I do? Or how do I get it fixed? I don't want to leave it like that to long, the water doesn't go directly into it but I think it is dripping in slightly when it rains! Thanks guys for your future help and I dot know what I would do without this forum!!!

Thanks

NickCap

Re: Convertible Quarter-Window Help?

if you raise the top a little bit you can access the weather stripping that SHOULD be there, thats what goes in that little hole. Mine likes to move around a bit on the drivers side and I have to raise the top just a bit, put down the quarter window, and then pull it back down a bit to get it into the right place. Take a pic with the quarter window down and the top up about 20% of the way back so we can see the weather stripping (more to the left than your last pic)

If there is I've been unable to find it.
Can you determine what is supposed to hold it in place?
Maybe the adhesive just let go and you need to glue it into place?

There has to be something is missing that holds it in place?
Or, if the fastener is built in it has gotten too weak to hold it.

Can you take it out and photograph the back side and ends?

It is very sticky. I have used it on numerous vehicle's weatherstripping over the years with no problems. It is very important to follow the instructions to get good adhesion. Below is what I remember, but read the package first too.

I wouldn't use rivets unless you can do so in an area where they will not contact the window glass. If they contact the glass there is a good chance it will chip or shatter at some point.

You will need to clean both surfaces, after they are dry, apply the adhesive to both surfaces and let it "skin" over (let the surface of the glue dry).
Then make sure the parts are lined up perfectly and push them together.
Run your hand/finger up and down the pieces to ensure good contact.
Let them dry for however long the instructions say to and you should be good to go.
