I am thinking about a gear drive but a knock sensor can detect a knock and ****** timing to compensate, Ive talked to some folks that ran them but always forget to ask

FYI:
A gear drive will impart additional noise and harmonics.
A toothed belt drive will not, however they are more expensive.

I got a lot of attention with mine but I don't think there really worth it unless you have a serious drag car IMO. There was no difference when I switched back to the chain.

Some people buy them just because they like the gear whine.
They do however make "quiet" gear drives too.

Yeah I just read that they didn't, I'm not so much doing it suspecting any power or nothing buy figured that 40% extra cash may buy something that woud last longer and be more precise

They should last longer and be more accurate for sure and you should be able to set/adjust your cam timing easier.

I had a chain on an old 302 once that was so badly worn, when you put a timing light on it you could see it jump back and forth 6 degrees or more.
Like a D.A. I took it for one last drive and it failed about 15 miles out.
