Re: its alive!!!

if you guys can see my profile pic, you will see that i snatched the set-up outa my 92 notch and droped it into this 96. and yes, 98% everything swapped straight over, even exhaust

Re: its alive!!!

o yea, the v6 was t5 equiped so i left it in the car... i had to swap bell housing and clutch cable. i plan on using the 3.45 with trac-lok from outa my coupe as well.

the wiring harness portion was not all that complicated. the portion you need to swap over is relativley small, and is very "plug and play". you unplug the v6 engine and pcm harness, then plug in the v8.

i used a fox body based motor so there were sum concessions and re-engineering requried in sum instances. i.e. im running an independent electric fan, still running off of a sensor, just not through the factory fan computer.

i made sum spacers so i can run sn95 powersteering bracket with the fox body timing cover. i did this so i dont have to try to find an sn95 blower bracket for my powerdyne bd11-a. also, i can run a/c since now i have the compressor and all the lines specifically designed for the car (yay!).

the boxed rear upper and lower control arms swapped right over from my fox, as well as my v8 sway bar. i bought sum 2"drop springs since i was gonna be in there anyway.

ill take sum more pics since i figured out how to get them outa my phone.

Nice! First time I ever saw a 96' 5.0.

Did you replace the V6 K-Member with a V8?
Is the driveline hooked up?

Just asking because it seems to be set back pretty far.

6cyl and pushrod v8 share the same mounting demensions... so it dropped right in. i had to put v8 bell on the t5 and it all went together. all driveline and exhaust are hooked up. i think it just sits so far back cause itsa "split port style" type intake. it also has a 1" spacer to clear the valve covers and throttle bracket. it sits up pretty high, according to bbk a cobra r hood should fit it. it sits right under the firewall in the back, but the front is almost six inches over the fender....

not to mention it was originaly designed for a fox body

I see, thanks for the info.
I'd run a limiter on the DS motor mount just in case.

Re: its alive!!!

That intake is still being manufactured isn't it?

I always thought these were cool - BXR , too bad they no longer make them.
Now I want to try one of these - Pro-Flo XT

yea, to my knowledge they do. my gf bought it for me from jegs for xmas a while back.

i love that bxr.. but for 1000k they priced themselves outa the market. (looks real similar to the bbk

i want one of those pro-flo too..lol. it's quite a bit cheaper than my bbk. but my bbk makes stupid torque, especialy with the blower and spacer

I was gonna keep my 97 v6 and swap it over to a DOHC 4.6 or a good SOHC 4.6. But that was gonna be a good bit of money. Nice job though.

unfortunatley, the modular aftermarket hasnt gotten to the level of the pushrod aftermarket. it still cost considerably more to build a mod motor... dollar to dollar verses pushrod.... and horsepower per dollar verses pushrod.
