So here is my dilemma
I'm very new to the 5.0L world and am ready to behind upgrading my 302.

My engine is completely stock, aside from the msd, cai and throttle body Wich I am not too sure of the size but am assuming it's small as there is not even an intake, previous owner just powder coated stock intake.

1991 mustang lx
The car has 3.73 gears,
A really strong rear end w/posi and t5 transmission..
And full 3"
Cat-less off road h pipe
Also front end is a full tubular setup, is that makes any difference.
Cheers!

So my ? Is with the motor being completely stock internally what top end setup, heads intake and cam should I go with to make the best, most power for my current setup.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated

Re: Best top end combo?

dont know much about the combos on the 5.0L pushrods but I do know that 'best' can change based on what each person wants out of the motor or the rpm range you want it to work in etc. What are you wanting out of the car?

Well I am looking for a little more rpm range, not too much more
And am looking to put about 270-290 horse to the wheels

Or am I asking to much from the upgrades I mention

The car is a weekend toy so not daily driving it

Just looking for a little more mild fun

I am dreaming of a 347 perhaps in a few years but for now just want a little more power to play with

I've heard the trickflow twisted wedge kit is pretty good. Gets you into the 360hp(crank hp, so good for about 320ish rwhp) range for about $2500.
