95 Gt cutting out!

When I hit 2000 rpm it cuts in and out. It makes it tuff when taking off but once I get to 4th and 5th gear it quits. What in the hell is wrong with it?? I tried to get autozone to run diagnostic and they can only go back as far as 1996.

Has to be either fuel or ignition issues.
Do you have any aftermarket ignition parts on it?
Is your fuel pressure ok (38-40 psi)?
Have you tuned it up recently?

Any further information you can provide will be helpful in making a diagnosis.

Check your fuel pressure and see what it does when you give it some gas.
You may have a pump or regulator failing.

Did you change the fuel filter?

Re: 95 Gt cutting out!

I didn't know that. Learned something new today.

There must be some adapter or some other way to scan them.
A mechanic in my area scanned the 95 GT I had.

Where are you in Missouri?
There is a guy outside of town (Fayette) here that has a transmission shop and he scanned mine for me.
I'm pretty sure he used a Snap On scanner to do it with.

There is a connector on your passenger wheel well towards the firewall. You have to jumper it and turn the key on to pull codes.

You should probably have a shop use a scan tool that identifies the exact car.... Those years are more like obd 1 and a half ....very limited on data and more like obd 1 than 2

---------- Post added at 11:23 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:22 AM ----------

My 89 is doing the same thing so im hoping you find an answer ....

Re: 95 Gt cutting out!

Does the missing problem occur when the car is cold, hot or both?

Possibly there are issues with the pickup coil in the distributor, but they are usually more prevalent at higher operating temperatures.

Re: 95 Gt cutting out!

I'm guessing it is weak spark, maybe a bad coil wire, coil, or something in the distributor...

They claim that the mass air flow plug was loose. I haven't picked it up yet. I will test it out and let y'all know.
