Hey guys I ordered bolts for my base edelbrock performer 5.0 intake to bolt to the heads and my question is when I threaded the bolts in only about 1/4 in maybe 2 threads more actually go into the head, does that sound right?...... And the torque specs are 23-25lbs?
Then they should hold ok.
Once you thread a bolt in equal to or slightly over its diameter, then you will have all the strength that bolt can provide.
The next question is, "Is that far enough to provide sufficient clamping force to seal the intake gaskets?"
or....Are they tightening down ok on the intake?
Good. That means there are no obstructions in the bolt holes.
You should be good to go.
Remember to follow the correct sequence and don't overtorque. :good:
YA That intake has a thicker deck height so the bolts appear to short , that looks ok , don't over torque or you'll strip out the head threads , thats what I'd be more concerned with .......... I would say more like 18- 22 lb ft of torque
