What is the H O mean in a 5.0

i just have a question and it might be stupid but i have a 5.0 HO, what is the difference in the regular 5.0 and the 5.0 HO? is it the firing order from the 351? and if so why?

Re: What is the H O mean in a 5.0

alright i heard too that went to the 351 firing order to take stress of the crank, and the stock 5.0 puts out about 195hp and the HO puts out about 225hp but correct me if i am wrong.

I don't remember the reasoning behind it but yes they did change to the 351 firing order and got better performance and emissions with the H.O

Keep in mind that manufacturers ratings meant squat in the nineties. They all under rated their motors.

They have the truck heads basically, not really specific to either size.

Well it's always a good thing to ask questions if you don't know.

The 87s and such had e7 heads, they was good back in the day and guys with older 80s mustang would take their e6 heads off and switch to e7s, the next era would take 351w heads from like Windsor jrs and throw them on and get a bump, afew years went by and then the better cheap add on switched to gt40 and gt40p, and yeah the 5.0ho has a different firing order from the old sbf 302 from the 70s
