Throwing any codes on check engine? I would assume idle control valve is clogged or faulty. Could remove and clean. But this is all speculation. On a side note the coolant sensor is tied in through the computer to the idle circuit. After about 15-20 seconds the computer reads the temp sensor to trigger the kickdown circuit. Just some thoughts, sorry no immediate remedy.

If the engine runs fine while in gear you my friend have a bad iac, but if you also have idle/ cruise problems it's going to ne something else.

Re: New problem

If you don't already have one get a Chiltons or Haynes manual and follow the procedure for setting the idle and TPS.
