What to do about gears

I have been looking up ways too make my car faster with a budget of 200 and next weekend Iv read that gears are the most bang for your buck. I just can't decide that to get 3.55 3.73 or 4.10?? I do have to drive 30 miles to the drags and I keep reading that 4.10s and 3.73s kill gas but will 3.55s be alright on the track? There are some here for 60 so I was debating on those? What do y'all think?

Re: What to do about gears

4.10 if you are gonna stay NA,3.73 for SC and 3.55 for Turbo. I prefer the 4.10s myself, they do wonders for the butt dyno.

Mostly drag and track racing go with the 4.10's.
Practice to find your best launch rpm and shift points.

Mostly street go with the 3.73's.

dont go with used gears, just asking for hassle. You also cant buy and have gears installed for just 200

if you go into the rear end rebuild the Tlok while you are there as well if needed (if its got any miles on it rebuild it)

I would say 4.10 for track also.if you have street tires and stock suspension you will definitely spin.like spec said while you are in the rear end it is a good idea to rebuild the tlock ,or upgrade to a true posi.that is mainly because installing a rear end is some what of a job that you wouldn't want to do twice.the kit I bought for my rear end cost 240 from lrs.it came with everything that you need besides some special tools like micrometer ,dial indicator, and bearing pullers.installation in a shop could cost anywhere from 300 to 800 $. An average guy can do the job with proper studying and direction following.hope this helps.
Oh yeah,no used gears.

They should have a complete set with everything you need.I got mine from lrs and I didn't need to get anything.I would assume they sell the same thing.if you need advice on the install let me know I just did mine.

Usually you just get the gears unless they have put together a package deal.
Without the package deal just order the gearset you want and an installation kit.

Re: What to do about gears

I would not install anything less than the 3.73, you will just wind up changing it down the road....trust me.... 3.73 or the 4.10, I would base my thoughts on your HP rating and transmission selection....we stock FMS gear sets and they sell for $179 delivered if you need a set let us know. Thanks, Jack

I have 4.10s and absolutely love them! I turn 2k rpm at 65mph. Get like 20-21 on hwy still. And like 18city. If I can manage to not burnout all the time. Haha
