Great car for a local newbie.
Definitely a good price as it is only slightly more than the HCI that it has on it.

No its a template I made to layout the screws I'm gonna drill into my rims. I was just showing the technique I used to lay it out. By bisecting lines with a tremal.

I'll be running tubes, so its the safest bet. Plus it helps a little anyways.

Re: what it takes...

I'll have to get you a picture sometime of the large cam timing wheel I made years ago using the divider head to lay it out in 1 degree increments. It took some time to do, but it cost me a lot less than buying one.

I don't blame you. I'll be happy when I finally get all the little knick knacks out the way for mine so I can order heads and block.

i am thinking about purchasing this camera. anyone heard of it? i looked it up on youtube and the video quality looks great. i asked the seller some questions. i think its an import so i may try to see if i can find it somewhere else. im sure its not as good as a go pro. but i really dont feel like dropping a couple hundred on a camera just for my car.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-P9000-HD...6662%26ps%3D54

also is there any other cheaper options that anyone knows of?

here is a video

I ran across several different cameras when I was looking for one. They were all close in price to the Go Pro though and I can't remember the names, but they looked like the Countour .
Here's a link to lots of choices. - Sports Cameras

I ended up choosing the go Pro because of the reviews I read on each camera I looked at and the fact that it has so many mounting options and add ons.
You can use it practically anywhere for anything too, it is not limited to just using it on your car.

Here's a list of add ons and mounts for them.

Wi-Fi BacPac™ + Wi-Fi Remote Combo Kit - Want this
Dive Housing
Wi-Fi BacPac™
LCD BacPac™ - and this
Battery BacPac™ - and this
3D HERO System

Handlebar Seatpost Mount
Roll Bar Mount
Chest Mount Harness
Suction Cup Mount
Surfboard Mounts
Helmet Front Mount
Vented Helmet Strap Mount
Head Strap Mount
NVG Mount
Tripod Mount
Wrist Housing
Curved Adhesive Mounts
Flat Adhesive Mounts
Grab Bag of Mounts
Camera Tethers

And free software - CineForm Studio

Yeah I was checking out all the accessories at Wal-Mart. It's just hard for me to fork up that much moolaw just to take car vids. But that's still up in the air. I am seriously thinking of getting that p9000. At that price its a pretty low risk and the YouTube vid looks to be great quality. I can always upgrade to a gopro later. I really want something before I go to the track though.

Hmmmm... Decisions decisions. Lol

I saw a commercial for some kind of camera but I don't know if it just takes photos or video but it was $50 bucks and the commercial had rob dyrdek, Travis pastrana and some others.

It looked interesting for 50 bucks, waterproof, shock proof etc etc

Seems like a good buy. Im still biased for the gopro because of the sweet mounting options, but also how shockproof it is plus it's waterproof. Basically what they're sayin is they steveproofed it!..and for me that's worth da extra cheddar because I like to break S#!T
But for just a simple in car cam I think that one seems legit..

Well that's the thing. I'm up in the air if I should wait or go this route. Hmm.. maybe when I pay bills today I will have enough for a gopro. If not idk

I just mounted my digital camera to my cage when I took it to the track, I know you don't have a cage but the patented side head rest lift it up and put it there and push the button and go race.. Just a cheap thought.. I want a go pro also this will do for now

In your place I would rig a mount for the cell phone to take vids for this outing and save up for the Go Pro later IF it is what you really want.

I think it is the original version which did and should work just fine.
I think with it you are just getting the camera and no mounts or cover so check the included stuff. Compare the specs and what you get to see if it is suitable for your use.
Not sure what all they changed with the Hero 2 version.

Which gopro do you have? It says it does hd video and all that jazz. And using the phone is out of the question. I can also add attachments later. They sell those at Wal-Mart.

---------- Post added at 02:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:44 PM ----------

Got some drilling done today. The template is working flawlessly. I was a little worried cause the head size of the screw barely fits in the area.

---------- Post added at 02:51 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:47 PM ----------

Idk. I think I am sold on this one.

I'm gonna order it up later unless anyone else can convince me not to. Lol

That's some pretty good video. Also, I think their mounting hardware seems to be some good solid stuff.
