ok fellas. i need to figure out the crackling. but like i said, it was the first video. there are different settings for qaulity, indoor outdoor, skating auto, etc etc. also it is mounted right in front of the passenger window. if you look closely i have the other mount on the upper trim right by where the rear view mirror would be. im sure it wouldnt catch the wind. but i really lke the location i used because you can see everything. also really like the picture quality. anyways here it is.

the best quality (1080p) that i used is actually the smallest width view. i think that view is 121* but with a different setting you can get 171* which is ridiculous!

maybe i should mount it in my escort and show these bi€thes how to really speed shift! lol

Thinkin I may goto the track Friday night free work. Jut gotta keep an eye on the weather and the wife's work schedule. Good thing is my buddy said to let him know and he would probably come up so I may ask him to get a trailor just in case so I can really romp on it lol.

Which also means I need to get a good mount for my iPhone so I can get some good footage!

Got some drilling done today. The template is working flawlessly. I was a little worried cause the head size of the screw barely fits in the area.

Idk. I think I am sold on this one.

I'm gonna order it up later unless anyone else can convince me not to. Lol
I have the Hero 2 Motorsports Edition, thanks to my lovely and thoughtful wife.

I think you made the right choice and will be very happy with it.

The noises are from the wind and something squeaking in the mounting it sounds like.
I read online (Once again, I know you probably get tired of hearing it. ) that you can use a bit of foam or cotton ball to muffle unwanted noises and if you are not ever going to use it underwater, they say to drill a small hole in the back of the housing to alleviate wind noise. Do a Google search for Go Pro wind noise issues and some cures will turn up in the results I'm sure.

yeah i know. i could also role that window up to. but it was just a little weird because i read a whole long thing on there website about how much work they had done in research and engineering in the sound department. it said there should be little to no wind noise.

but yeah i plan on doing lots of googling and playing with settings and what not.

I see that I did miss out on some uh, shall we say "interesting" posts.

I'm sure with some research and experimenting you will come up with a cure.
I really want the remote control for mine, so when it is mounted outside I can turn it on, off or make settings changes without having to get out of the car to do it. Getting lazy in my old age I guess.

yeah that would be cool. like you said before, they make so many accesories for this thing its kinda unreal!

i did notice that the vinration is from the mount i used. i didnt use the orange doohickey that came with it. with the base plate mount that came with it, supposedly has a common vibration problem. but still in the learning curve right now. im sure i will be more than happy with it. i am pleased with the picture quality already.

the thing i want most is the magnet mount. i seen a 70lb strength with rubber base for 20$ on ebay. the rubber is so it dont scratch the paint. i would like to get some good outside angles. like pointed at the tire etc etc.

---------- Post added at 10:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:13 PM ----------

Actually after just speaking about the vibration from not using the orange thing. I think that is almost all vibration. You can see in the video when I first turn it on, I'm not even moving yet. And from me hitting the button, it makes the same kind of noise as when Im driving. Sweet.

I didn't get an orange thing with mine, what is it?

That magnet sounds pretty interesting, but with your black paint you will have to be very vigilant to ensure no metal particles get trapped on it and scratch your paint.
Also note that 70 lbs of pull on thin metal won't be the same as on thicker metals.
Did you get a suction cup mount with yours?
I did and it suctions on the body panels very securely, but as with a magnet you have to be sure it's clean.

the only mounts i got were the curved base sticky mount, and the square base plate that its displayed in the box with. if the suction cup works good enough maybe ill try that one.

if you go to around 4:00-4:30 in this video it will explain the orange doo hickey. and the baseplate is the one that i have read gets the bad squeekig noises.

That's a good find, I'll be bookmarking that vid for future reference.

I'll have to get me one of those orange doo hickeys. I didn't get one with my kit.

At our age that's not very likely to happen any more.

I have a headband for an LED headlight that I'm going to modify and mount my Go Pro to also. That will be handy to give a user's view of what I'm looking at, but I'll have to be careful of the "bikini babes" as they could cause me to get my head smacked on occasion.

Lol.

Hey even though I came to the conclusion that it wasn't wind. The gopro also cam with an extra cover for the case it has 2 large holes in it. Is that the better choice to prevent wind?

I think that is what it is for, but check to be sure. It's been a while since I messed with mine much.

P.S. Here is a link to a site with a bunch more stuff for the GoPro. I found it through a link on the vid you posted.

Here's a wind noise reduction gadget, or you could just skin a grizzly bear for the fur and make your own.
