I heard that aircraft paint stripper works great for stripping paint from chrome.I have not personally used it on something that has chrome on it so I would try a small hard to see area to make sure it doesn't affect the chrome first.I have used it on regular metal before and it does work great.you can pick it up at your local hardware store.they sell it in aerosol and brush on.hope this helps.

Try using fingernail polish remover. N i do know that rubbing alcohol will polish chrome with a quick swipe
