Slow Mustang

So, I have a '95 GT Vert (big & HEAVY) and I know that it's never gonna be a race car...lol...which I'm totally ok with, BUT I would like it to have a bit more kick to it. I've gone through and done a tune up, replaced some hoses, changed all the fluids etc, so she's clean and running great. The only things I have planned are CAI and exhaust and when it comes time to do the tranny, I'll be swapping the AoD for a 5speed. I've thought about gears too but it's near the bottom of my list. What do you guys think? I'm going to be shipping the car to Oahu in January and will be living less than 4 miles from work so gas mileage isn't really THAT important (I don't wanna kill it though cause it will be my only transportation for a few months). Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
This is my girl so far...97k miles, all stock besides lowering springs that were put in before I bought it. I just added the cobra wheels last month.

Re: Slow Mustang

I'd move gears higher up on your list.

And does anyone know where I could find a single cobra center cap like this one for less than $40? It just seems a bit out of control price wise but maybe it's just me.

I agree with Brent, but add the Gear change with the other stuff you gonna do. Plan on getting a Tuner also. The part I don't 100% agree with you on is changing the Tranny,, Not really that neccesary. You will love the changes that come with the other stuff you do.

This car is literally the first automatic i have ever owned. Maybe itll just take some getting used to. I just hate not being able to pick which gear I want when I'm bombing down a country back road with curves and hills. And since it is an auto, what gears would you recommend? 4.10?

Re: Slow Mustang

Being a 95 you have the 5.0 motor which is VERY easy to build and make great power out of, look into that.

I have been and the options are endless if you got the $$$ which is why I really wanted the 5.0. I was all set to make a screaming lil monster out of this thing but with me now moving to Hawaii and leaving my nice cushy at home shop behind, I'm leaning toward something a bit more on the tame side. That will help keep me out of trouble. Tee hee.

Re: Slow Mustang

having an auto is great. Don't do a tranny. Just a stall. Look into a SC or turbo setup. Specially turbo. Also as every one said gears. A nice 4.10 will wake it up some.

Just as everyone else has said, I would move the gear swap to the top of the list...
I just got done with a rear end rebuild and 3.73 swap for my 5-speed and the difference is night and day But with a slushbox, I'd put in 4.10's and a shift kit and maybe even a good stall and I guarantee you'll love the newfound torque!

Put gears and a bama chip near the top of ur list a 91 octain tune and start running premo in it shell wake up real nice then for ur diff look at a 373 or 410 gear make sure when u do the chip u give bama a list of added parts (so put engine mods on first and keep ur part #s) they will tune it to work with those parts and a gear drive timing set will help with the chip because the chip tune is way more aggressive and u dont want to run into timing issues other then that theres the usual suspects for adding power (cam, intake, heads, blower, turbo, stroker kits etc...) have fun!

And dont forget if u remove weight it has the same affect if not better then just adding power and is way cheeper to do as well
