It's mainly that they have a 4v motor and those motors sound orgasmic.. Also, the supercharger on the 03/04 cobras add to the exhaust sound and make them sound even better.

Re: Exhaust question!!

Deep toned exhaust sounds are usually produced by engines with higher air flow capabilities and larger diameter exhaust systems.

Raspy, crackling exhaust sounds are most often associated with smaller engines that have a lower air flow capability and smaller diameter exhaust systems.

Thats nice, I have the X with nothing else also, I just thought that with the Low Deep tone you spoke of, that you might have the H pipe. People say the H sounds Lower that the X.

How does your sound since it doesn't have anything? Is it really loud?

My wife says it is the loudest around here, a couple more Mustang in neighborhood. I don't think it's ridiculously loud, but then I'm the one that drives it and I may just be use to it and don't notice it like others. Soo, all that stuff you may have read about X's sounding Raspy, is not noticeable, and if the H has a lower, deeper tone, I honestly donot know. I'm fine with the X on the Mustang, but for a lower deeper sound I would have put the H on the Camaro V6, but who knew.LOL.

Let me just add one more little thing to this thread, as I stated there is a couple other cars around here, and I've stated to my wife that they are loud as hell, when they fire up, well she on quite a few times has corrected me saying that I was louder than all of them, and she said it with much intensity.

Re: Exhaust question!!

I changed from H to an X (FR) on the 05 GT and I'll be damned if I could tell the difference in sound or performance...

Good you added that, cause I have no idea of the differences.

At lower RPM's I have to admit that I cannot tell much difference either, but when the RPM's get into the higher ranges I have noticed a distinct difference listening from the outside.

I don't think the power differences are enough to really notice unless you are comparing them on a dyno.

I have a h-pipe with slp lm1 cat back on my 94 it's one of the best sounding 5.0's I have heard in my area nice deep loud tone . I had a 98 gt with x-pipe and borla cat back and didn't have a lower tone to me but everything I have seen or heard online x-pipe is better for making more power I am not sure of this myself cause haven't seen any dyno numbers to back that but defiantly a difference in sound between the 2

Kyle, dyno tests have shown that the H-Pipe has a slight advantage in the lower RPM ranges and the X-Pipe has the advantage in higher RPM ranges.
