Ok by your distributor there is a plug with a grey connector in it. Pull it out, crank the car and loosen the dist clamp nut ( 1/2") and set your base timing.

Here's an article that should help

Re: Timing!!

screw the base timing , he wants it to run GOOD !!!!
Turn the dail on the advance light ( hoping you got that kind of gun )
to 14' degrees , then while she's running line the flashing light up with the timing marks by turning the distributor till the light lines up with the mark !!
old 5.0's run the best at 14' degrees advance !!! oh and use premium fuel afterwards

Re: Timing!!

does your light have a dail on it ?

---------- Post added at 01:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:23 PM ----------

if u have a dail ,set it to 14 then find zero on your balancer and mark it so u can see it .... and while running the zero should line up with the pointer with your gun at 14"

For reference, if he set it to 20* that would make his BASE Timing 20*. But definitely advance it to 14*

It would also help if you put white out on the 14* mark if you don't have a dial.

Trojan Horse is just getting started.
Re: Timing!!

The article link that 93slowstang provided gives you all the information you need to set your "base" timing, whether you set it at 10 or 14 degrees.
