Remove it, wash it, bead blast it, repaint it.

Or carefully wash it on the car with soap and water.
Just don't use a high pressure hose, because you might force water into electrical connectors or other areas it should not be in.

Re: cobra intake..

yea you can remove it, have it striped and re-coated if you cant get it cleaned any other way or you could hand polish it (takes forever) then clear coat it etc~ or have some other coating done to it (they have all sorts now)

NOTE:
If you ever get a chance to try some, check out the Morado purple soap from ZEP Manufacturing. Zep Morado Super Cleaner

It makes Simple Green look like hand soap.
It will actually etch/dissolve aluminum at higher concentrations and remove or etch paint. We have actually used it to pre-clean painted surfaces in prep for repainting. It does a great job of removing any oils or greases and etching the paint. You just have to be careful and not leave it on to long.

Also DO NOT get it on your skin. It burns and will turn the skin on your hands to a rubbery consistency, then a day or two later the outer layers of your skin will peel off. So use it with good common sense and caution and pay attention to the instructions on the label.
