Mach 1 or cobra fox??

I'm going to do a drive train swap, anyone know which would be better for the strip, a drive train from an 03-04 mach 1 or 99-01 cobra, I'll be running 410s or 430s, oh lol I'm putting it in a 93 LX hatch

That's what I was thinking between those two, but it would make a much faster and cooler car with the terminator swap, it's just gonna be more cash, have to give that one some thought, thanks for the input.

I would say if you want to build one to keep, do a coyote 5.0L swap.. There are already a few on the road and said to be scary fast in stock trim. It's almost 2x the original HP and comparable in power to the termi with no blower! JMO

Re: Mach 1 or cobra fox??

While I find swaps to the mod engines interesting, I also find that they are very expensive.
However if you have the cash, then go for it.
One big advantage to the mod motor swap and subsequent computer and wiring swap will be the ability to purchase a lower priced tuner to help you get the most from your combo.

I'd probably prefer the Terminator engine as they have demonstrated their capability to support upwards of 1000 HP with the stock bottom ends.

A new BOSS engine would be my choice, I'm betting as strong as the Termi, more HP w/o a blower, and yea it will cost more but you are also talking about something that has not been done or talked about to death. Assuming you are building a car you plan to keep.

Those new engines are nice, but way to expensive for the horsepower you get IMO. For the $10,600 the Boss engine costs not counting the computer, wiring, etc., I could build a stroked 351W that would put it to shame.

Oh, they do make an installation kit for this swap too, so it must be pretty popular. See the vid at the bottom of the page.

I'll be buying the donor car wrecked, so I get the whole car, that way I can part the rest and get back some of the cash that I paid for the car, I've seen a couple of 2012 boss stangs go thru but they were high lol I hate making decisions like this lol

True, but like many discussions of this sort it comes down to building V. Buying. Yes you can buy a stroked 351w ready to go right in, BUT they are very pricy as well.

For this build the intention is to buy a donor and swap, and I don't know of any donors with factory BUILT 351w's.

There's always donors for almost any combo that you could imagine. Some may be harder to find, but they are out there. A built 351W could be had from a wrecked car or abandoned project just the same as a Boss 302 or any other engine.

My own car, while not wrecked, came from a project that the guy just lost interest in. I picked up the whole thing for less than half of the $12,500 he had invested, which he proved with receipts for parts and work. Bargains are out there it just takes patience and lots of looking and legwork to find them.
