Porting stock 5.0 heads

Has anyone ported and done a valve job on their stock 5.0 heads? I can get them fully rebuilt and ported for $350... Will i get a good enough hp gain per dollar going that route?

I would think for that money I would get a set of GT40 heads and just have them rebuilt if they are questionable. I think the stock heads with a rebuild and port would not show a big gain especially if you are planning further mods. Just my opinion.

A rebuild is usually just replacing the valve seals and regrinding the valves and seats. Not really worth it IMO.

I forget the exact ones but go to the junk yard and pull the heads and intake off an explorer(96-98 maybe)they are gt40.the same heads used on 95 cobras.then pay to get those ported and u will see a decent gain.

Whether or not a 5 angle valve job or even a 3 angle valve job will make much, if any difference is going to depend upon how the intake/head flows or has been ported to flow.
Sometimes it may help, other times it may do nothing at all or even have negative effects.

More of that, "Make sure your parts and mods match or compliment each other" wisdom gained from experience.
