Has anyone used or know anything about Hughes Performance Street Master Torque Converters? They are around $500

No, sorry I have not.
From experience I can tell you that buying a little known brand can turn out either way.
Some I tried worked just fine, others were a waste of time and money.
If you can get a close look at the convertor, just check out how well it appears to be machined and put together. The ones I had issues with were pretty obvious once i looked them over good. Crappy welds, rough machining, metal particles embedded in the paint, etc., etc..

Good name brand.
I didn't own one personally, but a couple of friends and family members did and they were all well pleased with their B&M products.
