Shifter does not move linkage on my trans?

Ones anyone know why my shifter doesn't move my linkege on my tranny?

What do u mean? The shifter is stuck? Or it just doesn't change gears?

My shifter won't move my linkage on the tranny but if I go under the car and and move it it works

It might have too much play in the linkage. Or it may be broken somewhere along the line. Have you had someone try to move the shifter while you watch the linkage from underneath?

I just got the tranny rebuilt

Automatic?

If so then your cable is not fastened down properly at the transmission and instead of the inner cable moving the linkage the whole cable is moving instead.

Did the rebuilders install the transmission? If they did or who ever did, might have over looked something. It might be loose or not connected at all.

I would tell them the problem you are having with it. It sounds like the linkage may have not been tightened up and has too much play in it. If you can't take it apart and see what's wrong I'd say take it back and they should fix it.
