Amp light came on

Raving the store today car suddenly turned off amp light came on and everything was still on . It turned over but wouldn't start. This happened about two weeks ago but just started right back up after it died. The battery died from trying to start it this time so my wife came and jumped the car and it started right up and drove home with no problems. I'm gonna get my alt tested but what else should I look at if anyone has any tips? Thank you

Also test the starter solenoid on the fender wall. They are cheap.

You may have a dead cell in your battery or the alternator/voltage regulator is failing, but that wouldn't really explain why it died suddenly like that.

Did it turn over really slow like the battery had been drained down?
