Re: Track time!!

is it a 5 speed? a mostly stock 5.0 should run 9.0's with a t5 and slipping the clutch on street tires.

i.e.

before camming mine

Full exhaust with no cats
CAI, 70 mm tb, stock intake and Maf
stock heads and stock gears at 3.08

9.0 @ 76 mph 1/8 with a 2.1 60 ft

A 10.00 1/8 mile time equates out to between a 15.83 - 16.00 1/4 mile time.
Most places use the 1/8 mile time multiplied by 1.5832, but the NHRA uses 1.6.

Running tire pressures that low on street tires can cause you some grief.
If the tire sticks, there is likely not enough pressure to keep the rim from spinning inside the tire bead. I would not go under 20 psi on a street tire.
Be careful.

IMO you'd be 8.70's - 9.0 with a 5spd and Drag Radials.. My old 95 was 8.80-9.0 with similar mods 5spd and 2.73's

Pretty quick for a DD IMO. Wish I had my old slips, thinking my 60ft was 1.6's or 1.7's on my best passes and 2.0's in a regular basis. Can't say for certain though.

Yeah. I was on 215/65 street tires which I could leave at 3,000 rpm's and dump the clutch

After I dumped the mufflers right out of the muffler(no tail pipes) I was able to move up to 2,400-2,500. Psi was in the 20's but not for sure exactly it been 8+ years ago lol

Not bad for your first go at it. Takes practice to get good at drag racing, no two ways about it.

Install some aftermarket LCAs and get rid of those quad shocks.

Been there, unfortunately still there and I can understand that all to well.
I have the old Southside Lift Bars on my 86 GT.
They work really well and I have not needed the quad shocks since they were installed years ago.
If you are interested in checking them out they are being manufactured again under a new name.

Check with our site Supporters/Vendors
If you have no luck with those, maybe check Jegs and Summit Racing.
