off road x-pipes v/s h-pipe with shorty headers

I'm pretty new to the site and I'm sure someone somewhere has answered this. But I want everybody's opinion what is the difference as far as sound and performance between the x and h-pipe for shorty's. I have a flomaster 40's with the catted factory pipe right now. Oh yeah this is on a 91 gt.

X pipe gives you a raspy sound while h pipe gives you a deeper tone. NASCAR swears by x pipe and drag racers swear by h pipe. It's more personal preference. I have shorties with a off road x pipe ( no cats) And 2 chamber flows. I will look for a video I have of my car doing the quarter mile so you can hear my exhaust tone.

I have a off road H with flowmaster 44's and it's pretty loud, but a nice deep throaty idle and good throaty rumble at upper RPMS it's on a 95 cobra with factory shorty headers

As far as hp gains they both will net you the same!.. It's just one will net you more in the lower rpm range than the other!.. As far as sound!.. The H-pipe is throaghtier than the X-pipe is!.. The X-pipe has more of a "European" sound (for a lack of a better way to put it)!...

As far as brand!... I have a Pypes o/r X-pipe and it fits perfectly!..

I'm running bassani x-pipe with high flow cats (which is a waste I still fail emissions) so I was thinking of cutting the cats off and welding in pipe in place? Is that good or bad?

For about the same money and time, you can probably just get an o/r X-pipe!..

Honestly I would just keep the catted x and swap the original H on for emissions testing. Use tge catted X to pass any visual inspection a cop may make.
